Weather in the mountains

Weather is real outdoors in the mountains.
It surrounds us totally
and comes close.
And we are close to it.
Vêret er ekte ute på fjellet.
Det omgir oss på alle kantar
og kjem tett på.
Og vi er tett på det.

River through a valley in Jotunheimen mountain area

the ice melts
in the summer,
flows as a blue river
and make swings
down the landscapes
which grow greener.
isen smeltar
om sommaren,
flyt som ei blå elv
og svingar seg
gjennom landskapet
som blir grønare.

Photograps shot from the mountain Knutshø in Jotunheimen this week.
The river starts with the  glacier Leirungsbreen and flows into the lake Øvre Leirungen - which in turn flows into the lake Gjende.
Minerals from the glacier give the water a turquoise colour.

Expired analogue film

I found some really old, expired film and Loaded my Hasselblad.
I then went out to some well-known sites in my nearby forests and shot a couple rolls.
The developed result was very difficult to scan and post process, but one of the shots from the Fujicolor PRO-film turned out quite well.

From Østmarka near Oslo

Planar 80
Fujicolor PRO 160
Aperture: small
Exp time: 8 sec - or more.. (a couple steps overexposed - since it was an old film stock)

Flowing water

Each spring echoes the last ice age's end,
when ice and water gushed out and broke way for rivers and waterfalls.
Kvar vår er eit lite omkvede av siste istids ende,
då is og vatn sprengde seg fram og grov far for elvar og fossar.

These photos were taken in the mountain area Rondane in Norway, July 2020

Mountains let night be night

In the mountains the night can be night.

Black as nothing, or twinkling with stars - and an ever changing moon.

In the summer: never dark, but glowing in the north.
I fjellet får natta vere natt.

Svart som ingenting, eller glitrande av stjerner - og ein skiftande måne.

Om sommaren: aldri mørk, men glødande i nord.

Oslo's nearby forests

The old parts of the forests east in Oslo - called Østmarka, have something of the pristine and original in it - something I think we all are longing for.

Landscapes that has grown naturally over a long time, and not been prepared and exploited in any human interest, but which live, grow older and are brought further into a variety of life forms, give us the deep confirmation of belonging.

The pictures below are taken during the last 12 months.
